Holburne Museum reopens in Bath

Exciting times in Bath as the new look Holburne gets set to open 14th May.2011 is The Year of the Museum in Bath with a full programme of exciting events and exhibitions.Please contact us if you would like more information or images or would like to visit and go behind the scenes at the museum!

2011 is Bath’s Year of the Museum, a campaign involving all seventeen museums in Bath. The sheer variety of museums enrich any visit to Bath. Many tell the story of this fascinating city whilst others showcase specialist collections.

Heritage Lottery Fund awards £1.4million to No 1 Royal Crescent Museum, Bath

The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has awarded £1.4million to the Bath Preservation Trust to help transform the historic house museum at No. 1 Royal Crescent, it is being announced today.

The grant from HLF will support works to reconnect No 1 Royal Crescent with the building that once housed its servant quarters, in a project that will radically increase museum and exhibition space, whilst allowing for new education and archive facilities and presenting existing historic rooms in new ways to visitors.

Mowbray Open House to Celebrate 65 Years

Eastbourne’s Edwardian Mowbray is getting ready to celebrate its 65th anniversary as a guest house with a special Open House Day on Sunday 27 February.

Residents and visitors to Eastbourne are invited to attend the Open House Day and enjoy canapés and a glass of bubbly, view the recently refurbished rooms, relax with 5-minute sample treatments from the Mowbray’s therapist Anna Archer, and view the work of Eastbourne artist Julian Sutherland-Beatson whose work adorns the guest house walls.

Secrets of Nymans’ gardens at Crawley Library

There will be a blooming marvellous event at Crawley Library on Tuesday (February 15), 7.30pm.

Ed Ikin, Head Gardener at Nymans, the National’s Trust’s garden at Handcross, will be discussing his new book ‘Thoughtful Gardening’ and signing copies as well.

He will talk about techniques for all gardeners, whether you have a small yard, a vegetable patch, or several acres of land.

Great strides made as Britons step out

More than 350,000 walks, or one every one and a half minutes, were downloaded from the National Trust website over the last year .

A walk along the Bath skyline proved to be the most popular for the second year running with 14,000 downloads of the guide, which includes map, directions and points of interest.

Nearly 1,000 of the free walking guides were downloaded each day in 2010 and the total number of downloads increased by 40 per cent compared to 2009 as more Britons sought out walking routes for days out or during weekends away.
